Rather Vindicated!

After all the RatherGatetm (or, if you prefer, MemoGatetm) mess, it turns out Dan Rather was correct after all. Here is definitive proof. Time for apologies all around.

Remember the TV series "Max Headroom"? Amanda Peet used a computer keyboard made from an old typewriter, a Remington if I recall correctly.

Don't know why I never saw much of that series. I remember, though, it starred Matt Frewer who played Trashcan Man on The Stand.

Bob,

Of course you mean Amanda Pays. I'd forgotten about her lately. She has credits in the IMDb until 2002 then nothing after that.

My apologies to Amanda Pays.

One of the interesting things about that show, is that the supposedly computer-generated Max Headroom was actually Matt Frewer in heavy makeup. I wonder if the "mechanical typewriter as computer keyboard" was meant to be an inside joke about that.

No, I implore everyone to call it RatherGate, (and if blogger allowed it, I would use the superscript tag, "sup", on the 'th').

The reason is this-- the memos themselves, clearly the most pathetic well-known forgeries in history, were completely impotent in and of themselves to have produced the debacle.

Rather, it was Dan, (hee), the utterly biased to the point of blindness, arrogant, elitist snob etc who was the crucial fuel in the continued denial, and it was the continued denial which made the debacle. If C-BS has owned up to the mistake early, it would have been a different story. There would have been no debacle if not for Rather, hence.
